Bushman Hunter
The San people traditionally are hunter-gatherers, living in harmony with the natural world around them.
Hunting not only provides meat for the tribe but also has important social and religious connotations for the Bushmen. Hunting carried out by a band of men acting together and is not competitive in any way because a successful hunt is for the benefit of all.
The Bushman boys are tutored in the art of hunting with a bow and arrow from an early age. A man who has not proved himself as a hunter remains a child.
About The Artist
amen ngome
This young artist enjoys working with the spirit of the SAN (Bushman) people, exploring their lifestyle and learning of their ways.
Amen is an enthusiastic man who enjoys the challenges of developing new concepts and art pictorials, where collections of SAN men are portrayed in their pursuits and practices. The SAN are known as the ancient tribe of Africa, and their ancient skills have a great closeness with nature. Today the traditional SAN living style is rapidly vanishing, and AMEN is determined to record some of their traditional ways in his artwork.
